I drew my first self portrait, on large paper with charcoal, in over three years the other night. i must have forgotten how much deep looking and introspection creating a self portrait calls for, and i won’t try to explain it, but i ended up having a totally transformative experience. i was in total flow for over four hours. I don’t plan to share the finished piece here because it feels so personal to me. but wanted to speak on the the act of mark making and just express how therapeutic and cathartic acts of flow like this is can be. i truly believe it is one of the best ways to connect to your inner most self and explore your center and spirituality. i just wanted to use this as a moment to encourage my fellow artists and creatives to ✨do a self portrait sometime soon!✨ i think your heart and soul will thank you for it 🤍🕊
